Rainbow of the Kangba

( 康巴彩虹:中国藏族节日盛装大观 )

Rainbow of the Kangba: Festival Costumes and Adornment of the Tibetan Kangba People
over 200 color illustrations, text in Chinese and English.
This richly illustrated volume is the first to focus on Tibetan festival costumes and jewelry of the Kangba people, or "people of the land far from Lhasa". It surveys the jewelry and costumes worn by the the various minorities scattered around the region. Unlike normal Tibetan jewelry, festival jewelry uses rare and unusually large beads, including turquoise beads, gzi beads and coral beads, in addition to silver ornaments. The costumes are equally as elaborate, using specially treated wool, silk and animal skins.
