Textiles from Burma

This richly illustrated study of Burmese textiles is centred on the JH Green Collection at UK's Brighton Museum. James Henry Green (1893-1975) was an anthropologist and army intelligence officer posted in Burma from 1918 to 1937. The collection comes form all areas and ethnic groups. The distinctive features and sumptuary traditions of the multi-cultural country are evident from the black and white photographs and colour illustrations which delightfully complement the nineteen papers on textile traditions and the usages and significance of the artefacts. The final section is on collecting, commissioning and research. With address list, glossary, bibliography and index.
