Illustrations of Cupping Therapy

As one of the external therapies, cupping is an important part of traditional Chinese medicine. Based on the holistic view of traditional Chinese medicine, cupping therapy is a type of physical therapy used to treat problems by creating local congestion or hemostasis via negative pressure by sticking a series of specially-made cups or jars to either points or areas over the body surface. This acts to balance the body, supplement antipathogenic zi and remove pathogenic factors, dredge meridians, lubricate joints, elininate toxic substances and discharge pus. It is regarded as a convenient and reliable therapy, as it is safe, effective, and easy to operate. In addition, it does not cause adverse reactions or side effects.
This book consists of seven chapters. The first chapter covers the mechanism, functional characteristics, specific procedures and precautions of cupping therapy. The remaining six chapters convey specific indications of cupping therapy. Major points, operation, adjunctive points, precautions, and illustrations are provided for each specific indication.
